Bio

Mario is a research associate at the Human Performance Lab, Schulthess Clinic in Zürich (Switzerland), where he works since more than 30 years. He was also involved during 14 years (2002-2016) with the FIFA Medical Research and Assessment Centre (F-MARC), collaborating worldwide for projects focusing on sports injury prevention (notably with the 11+

programmes). His research interests focus on prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries. Mario is passionate about sports physiotherapy and sports medicine, and after working many years for professional ice hockey and football teams, he is currently a rehabilitation/training consultant in these sports. He also worked at three Olympic Games (2008, 2012, 2016), three FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014), and two FIFA Women’s World Cups (2007, 2015). Mario served as a former board member of the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy (IFSPT; 2009-2017), and he is currently the Vice-President of the Swiss Sport Physiotherapy Association (SSPA).
